Week #8: WoW and Wonder

I think emerging technology has advanced PLN. At the same time, I am curious if online teaching can completely replace offline teaching. In the past year, most students took classes online, whether voluntarily or not. Due to the time zone difference, many teachers post their teaching videos online. In my personal experience, I started out unfamiliar with the system and have come to prefer online classes. Depending on my schedule, I can always learn from the Internet. Compared to offline classes, online classes are convenient and flexible. Software similar to blog is even more known, and bloggers share everything from dressing to academic knowledge . More and more professionals are joining the sharing community. Due to the wide spread of the Internet, emerging technologies will change the traditional teaching profession. I think there will be some faculty members who will lose their jobs. Facing the trend of emerging technology, it is a problem how to arrange the re-employment of career employees.

Week #7 WoW and Wonder

WoW:

After I watched #tresdancing, it shocked and scared me. At the beginning of the film, Frankie was disqualified from the exam due to her environment. It resulted in Frankie having to re-study for a year. According to Frankie’s feedback, the surveillance system needs to be more and more personalized and enhanced. The glasses in the film brought new ideas to me. Frankie shows how the glasses can be used in a variety of ways: 1. to enhance learning, 2. to protect the community, and 3. to report violations.

Wonder:

With the glasses on, all of Frankie’s actions are monitored and recorded. Although she can choose to take off the glasses, it still makes me feel the fear of being monitored. At the end of the film, Frankie chooses her friend between finishing her education and her friend. We cannot blame a young child for choosing her friends, but they committed an illegal act.

Week #6 WoW and Wonder

It mentions that whether the comment is a compliment or a criticism it will move the Twitter algorithm up in the rankings. Personally, I think people tend to gravitate towards encouraging comments. I don’t understand the result after this post was published. Even though the topic is tui te up, negative comments have a negative impact on the challenge.

With the widespread relay of the Internet, propaganda has gone from government departments issuing notices to people to individuals posting news or opinions via the Internet. When an individual posts information, even though the blogger believes he has posted true information himself, how do people judge the truth of this information. There is a mix of true and false information on the Internet, but there is no timely and effective way to distinguish between them. Even if a rumor is proven to be false, it is after someone has been victimized.

Week #4 WOW and WONDER

This is the age of information technology. Whether you are searching for information or uploading files to share with others is related to the internet. I remember that my grandma used to have a password book to record various passwords. Nowadays, passwords are automatically saved when logging into websites. The spread of the Internet has increased the convenience of life. However, we hear about stolen accounts and credit cards all the time. We should learn how to protect information from being stolen.

I have had my credit card stolen. I think it is possible that my information was exposed when I purchased an item on a website. After I found out, I locked the credit card through the official bank website and called the bank’s customer service number. After proving the information over, the loss was recovered in time. Therefore, I think it is important to know how to avoid losses in addition to preventing information theft.

Week #3 WOW and WONDER

After reading Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age, it shows whatever theories demonstrate knowledge could obtain by reasoning or experiences. In our lives, we learn lots of things through communication with others, not books or the Internet. For instance, we say thanks after others help us. This learns from our parents. They teach us through their actions.

If knowledge was learned a long time ago, we would not use a long time. Is this knowledge still belong to us? We may store this knowledge deeply inside or forget it because it is not used in life. Can we say we hold this knowledge?

Week #2 WOW and WONDER

It surprises me when I watch What is a Personal Learning Network (PLN). I never thought about when I post or ask questions on social media belonging to PLN. Because it is not a systematic learning program. In the video, it shows that we should see ourselves as networked individuals. Smartphones and Wi-Fi have brought people closer connected. I agree that this change has a significant in our lives. We can find all the knowledge we want to know online. However, the network how to distinguish what knowledge is available to be learned by different people. There is a way that I think we could establish a limit system. For example, we could restrict teenagers not allowed a type of search unless they have the permission of their guardians.
